Our third official match announcement for BATTLE CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING 73 is the 8th ANNUAL 15-WRESTLER BATTLE RUMBLE where the winner will earn a BCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OPPORTUNITY!
The combatants will be revealed over the next two weeks!
A look back in time…..
2017: Johnathan Preston
Johnathan Preston went on to challenge the first ever BCW Heavyweight Champion, Slade Mercer without victory in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. Thereafter in a four-way rematch also involving Alan Payne and Mil Muertes, Johnathan again fell short.
2018: Nick Bury
Slick Nick Bury won the only Battle Rumble to take place in Sydney as a part of the Extreme Battle Tour. Thereafter Bury fell short in his quest for the BCW Heavyweight Championship against Maddog before again falling short in an Ultraviolent Rules Deathmatch. It was not until 2019 that Nick Bury would capture the BCW Heavyweight Championship.
2019: Gabriel Wolfe
The Surgeon faced Maddog for the BCW Heavyweight Championship after winning the Rumble. Initially fighting to a No Contest, the follow up was in a Steel Cage and Wolfe and with the assistance of Enyo Crows Wolfe won the title only to depart with it one night later when defeated by Nick Bury.
2020: No Battle Rumble
2021: No Battle Rumble
2022: PJ Black
The Darewolf won the Battle Rumble as a surprise entrant and immediately accepted Slex’s challenge to place his BCW Heavyweight opportunity on the line and Dr Black was successful for the second time in one night. Thereafter Dr Black returned to face Mick Moretti for the Gold only to fall short as The Rapscallion marched on.
2023: Gabriel Aeros
The tag team specialist outlasted his contemporaries during a feud involving The Parea Versus The Sexy Greek Boys in a match that also involved PJ Black. Aeros eventually received his title opportunity at the inaugural Best In Battle against Mick Moretti but was unsuccessful in his charge.
2024: Gore
The most dominant victor of any Battle Rumble was Gore who won this match and had his hand raised by Kurt Angle to define this moment. Already the Battle Express Champion, Gore went on to face Mick Moretti in a Champ Vs Champ Match and claim the BCW Heavyweight Champion, thus becoming the first Champ Champ in Battle Championship Wrestling history.
2025: Johnathan Preston
For the second time Johnathan Preston defeated his challengers to win another opportunity which he finally cashed in at BCW 70: Lucha Downunder Noche Dos. However instead of a one-on-one match against Blue Demon Jr, it became a triple threat with Famous B who demanded an immediate rematch from the night prior. Unsuccessful to date, Johnathan Preston has one more shot at Gold against Blue Demon Jr at BCW 73.
2026: ????????
The question now is, who will win the 2026 BATTLE RUMBLE and earn a BCW Heavyweight Championship opportunity against either the incumbent Champion, Blue Demon Jr Or last year’s Battle Rumble Winner Johnathan Preston?
